WELCOME TO CHIMEXCO 2009

Nestled between the Chittagong Hill Tracts and the Bay of Bengal, Chittagong is the second largest city of Bangladesh and considered as commercial capital. It is also home to the country's major industries. With trading being the main vocation, the city can boost the largest concentration of wealthy people and much higher per capita income.

Chittagong has a population of over 6 million and is continuing to grow. According to City Mayor's statistics, Chittagong is registering an annual growth rate of 6.3 per cent. It is estimated that in 2020 the GDP of Chittagong will be US$39 billion.

The Healthcare facilities available in the city, are still much inadequate compare to its demand and the standard of service and professionalism need to be brought to international standard. Efforts are already there and a number of hospitals, diagnostic centres, laboratories have already started functioning and more such facilities are coming up in the private sector.

Due to lack of proper and inadequate medicare facilities, wealthier people often go to the capital city of Dhaka or other regional cities, mostly to Bangkok, Kolkata, Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur for specialised treatments.

Against this backdrop, to establish linkage between medical professionals, healthcare service providers and service seekers, and to provide a platform for direct interactions amongst themselves; this International Medical Exhibition is planned in the port city of Chittagong for the third time. We are expecting a good participation from healthcare service providers, as well as medical and hospital equipment/ furniture manufacturers and suppliers to take part in the CHIMEXPO-2009, 3rd version of  the Exhibition; which I believe would be beneficial for all of them.
